Pre + Post-Care Guide

At Alchemy, we want to ensure your facial treatment leaves your skin glowing + healthy. Whether you're receiving a spa facial, plant-based peel, nanoneedling, dermaplaning, or microdermabrasion, following these simple tips can help you get the best results + maintain your skin’s integrity.

1. Avoid Exfoliation: Refrain from using exfoliating products (acids, scrubs, or retinoids) for at least 48-72 hours before your appointment to prevent skin sensitivity.
2. Hydrate Your Skin: Well-moisturized skin is more receptive to treatment, so drink plenty of water and apply your favorite hydrating products leading up to your appointment.
3. Avoid Active Ingredients: Discontinue the use of retinol, prescription skincare, or other potent active ingredients (like AHAs or BHAs) 5-7 days before your facial to avoid irritation.
4. Clean Skin: Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. This allows us to assess your skin’s needs and ensures the products work effectively.
5. Avoid Sun Exposure: Limit sun exposure and skip tanning beds for at least 48 hours before your facial. Sunburned or overly sensitive skin cannot be treated.
6. Consult About Treatments: If you’ve recently had Botox, fillers, lasers or chemical peels, let us know during booking. These may affect the timing or type of treatment we recommend, as well as results.

1. Soothe and Protect: Post-treatment, your skin may be sensitive. Use a calming serum or moisturizer recommended by your provider to keep your skin hydrated and reduce redness.
2. Hands Off: Avoid touching your face unnecessarily to prevent introducing bacteria or causing irritation.
3. Skip Makeup: Hold off on applying makeup for at least 24 hours to let your skin breathe and heal.
4. No Heat or Sweating: Avoid saunas, hot showers, or vigorous exercise that causes sweating for 24-48 hours to reduce the risk of irritation.
5. Sun Protection: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week after your treatment. Treated skin is more vulnerable to UV damage.
6. Avoid Exfoliation: Refrain from exfoliating for at least 5-7 days post-treatment. Your skin needs time to recover and restore naturally.
7. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to support your skin’s natural healing and rejuvenation process.
8. Follow Recommendations: Use any skincare products recommended by your provider to extend the benefits of your treatment. These are tailored to your specific skin type and concerns.
