Fillers and neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, and DAXXIFY are both injectables, but they work completely differently and address different concerns. Neuromodulators relax the facial muscles responsible for dynamic expression lines like forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines. Fillers add physical volume to areas that have lost it and smooth static lines that are present even at rest. Most patients benefit from both as part of a complete approach to facial rejuvenation. It provides immediate volume while also stimulating your body's own collagen production over time, making results firmer and longer-lasting. It's particularly well-suited for deeper volume restoration and areas where a more structured and longer-lasting result is the goal.

RADIESSE uses calcium hydroxylapatite, which adds volume while also stimulating your body's own collagen production over time.
Dr. Wilcox selects the product for each area based on the viscosity of the filler, the depth of injection needed, and the type of result you're looking for. Softer, more flexible products work best in high-movement areas like lips. Firmer products suit structural areas like cheeks and jawline. Duration varies by product and area: lip fillers typically last 6 to 12 months, cheek and midface fillers 12 to 18 months or longer, and RADIESSE often on the longer end due to its collagen-stimulating effect.
Most fillers in our lineup contain lidocaine built into the formula, and a topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand. Most patients find it very manageable, though lips tend to be the most sensitive area. Results are visible immediately, though swelling and bruising are normal in the first few days. Most patients return to normal activities the same day. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, heat, and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
The hyaluronic acid fillers in our lineup, which includes all Restylane and Revanesse products, can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed. RADIESSE cannot be dissolved the same way, which is one reason product selection and precise placement matter.
Neuromodulators are the most natural pairing. Botox, DAXXIFY, or Dysport address dynamic lines while fillers restore volume and smooth static wrinkles, together covering the two main drivers of facial aging. Morpheus8 complements filler well since tighter skin makes volume results look more refined. SkinPen and NouvaDERM address surface texture and tone.
