The Quanta EVO Light 4V delivers targeted laser energy that is selectively absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood within the unwanted vessel. This energy converts to heat, damaging the vessel wall and causing it to collapse. Over the following weeks, the body naturally processes and reabsorbs the treated vessel, gradually fading the visible vein or capillary from the skin's surface. The surrounding skin tissue is left unaffected.

The EVO Light is effective for broken capillaries and telangiectasias on the face, spider veins on the legs, facial redness associated with visible dilated vessels, and other benign vascular lesions. Your provider will use the appropriate approach for each treatment context. 

Most patients require 2-4 sessions for significant clearance of facial capillaries and 3-5 sessions for leg spider veins, though this varies based on the number, size, and location of vessels being treated. Sessions are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart to allow the body time to reabsorb treated vessels between appointments. Your provider will give you a personalized estimate at your consultation.

Most patients describe a quick, mild stinging or snapping sensation at each laser pulse (similar to a light rubber band snap). The EVO Light's integrated skin cooling system can help manage this sensation throughout treatment on larger veins. Smaller veins may disappear with the vasoconstriction caused by too much cooling, so we generally use more diffuse cryo air cooling as opposed to the integrated cooling so that the laser will still have a good chromophore to target. Treatment sessions are relatively brief depending on the size of the area being treated.

Immediately after treatment the treated area may appear slightly redder or more prominent. This is a normal initial response as the vessels react to the laser energy. Some mild swelling and redness around the treatment points is also normal and typically resolves within a few hours to a day. Treated vessels will gradually fade over 4-12 weeks as the body clears them. It's important to protect treated areas from sun exposure during this healing period.

Treated vessels are permanently destroyed and will not reappear, but new vessels can form over time due to ongoing sun damage, aging, hormonal changes, and other factors particularly in patients with rosacea or a genetic predisposition to vascular lesions. Many patients choose to do periodic maintenance treatments to address new vessels as they appear. Sun protection is the most important factor in slowing the recurrence of new vascular lesions.

1. Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning (including self-tanner) for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment
2. Arrive with clean skin and no lotion or makeup in the treatment area
3. Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements if cleared by your primary care provider as these can increase bruising risk
4. Let your provider know about any medications you're currently taking at your consultation.
