One of the most common topics that come up in my treatment room—often with a mix of laughter and exasperation—is the ongoing battle with facial hair. For many women, especially as we age, it seems like the universe has played a cruel joke: hair starts showing up where we don’t want it and disappears where we do!
It all started with a lighthearted chat during a recent brow and dermaplaning appointment. My client shared her frustration about the mysterious coarse hairs on her upper lip I was taking care of prior to dermaplaning her. “They just pop up overnight!” she exclaimed. And let’s not forget about the ones lurking in less expected places—ears, anyone? Some of these new arrivals even feel like a thorn on a cactus, sharp and impossible to ignore.
As if the hair’s Houdini act isn’t bad enough, our vision conveniently starts to decline right around the same time. Who has time to squint into a magnifying mirror every morning, armed with a pair of tweezers and hope? Not to mention how unflattering that harsh bathroom lighting can be.
Here’s the reality: hormonal shifts play a significant role in this hair migration as we age. Estrogen levels drop, testosterone takes the spotlight, and voila—our hair seems to have its own agenda. But don’t worry, there’s no need for a deep dive into biology. This isn’t a science lecture; it’s a reminder that you’re not alone, and there’s help.
At Wendy Bowden Brows & Skincare, consider us your extra set of eyes (because, let’s face it, sometimes we need them!). Whether it’s a rogue chin hair, a stray brow, or even a sneaky ear hair, we’ve got you covered. Our meticulous approach ensures that no pesky hairs escape detection—and we do it with precision, care, and maybe even a few laughs along the way.
Getting older might come with a few surprises, but it doesn’t have to leave you feeling defeated. Let us take care of the details so you can focus on more important things…like never having to squint into that magnifying mirror again.
Because when you’re here, you’re in good hands—and we’ll always have your back (and your chin, and your brows). But if you are looking for a set of really great tweezers for in between those pesky facial hair visits here are a couple of my go to's plus a great travel mirror companion.
CAUTION: Tweezers are all about the thickness of the angled edge. Too thick and you just can't grab the stingy ones.
#1 Rubis Tweezers Made In Switzerland
#2 Tweezerman Slanted Tweezers (these are a bit thicker in the angle)
