Hi, I’m Maddie, one of the estheticians here at Why Knot Massage & Self Care.

When I was a teenager, my skin was a mess—breakouts, irritation, nothing seemed to help. Dermatologists tried, but it wasn’t until my mom brought me to an esthetician that things finally changed. Those treatments over the the first 5 months really helped and it stuck with me. That’s why I went on to get my license from The Esthetics Institute in Afton, MO, spent time working at Massage Envy, and joined the team here in November 2025.

I work with all skin tones and types, using the Fitzpatrick scale to really understand your skin’s needs around melanin and tone. For me, it’s about creating a space where you can truly relax, feel taken care of, and leave with that peaceful, nurtured feeling that only comes from someone else’s hands. If you fall asleep during your Facial, I honestly take it as the biggest compliment—it means your nervous system got a real reset, and that’s what I’m here for.

I truly believe healthy skin reflects how you feel overall, so I trust Circadia products in my treatments. A few favorites: the Snow Algae & Spirulina Cooling Mask for that instant soothing and cooling relief (especially when skin feels irritated, inflamed, or needs calming after a treatment), the Marshmallow Whip Hydrating Mask for deep, comforting moisture and restoration (it helps lock in hydration and bring back softness and balance), and the Vitamin Veil Cleansing Oil for gentle, nourishing cleansing that removes makeup and impurities without stripping your skin, while leaving behind a protective veil of antioxidants.

On your first visit, we’ll sit down and talk—your current concerns, what your daily routine looks like, and any goals you have. Because about 68% of your results come from what you do at home between appointments, I keep my recommendations straightforward and doable: things like a simple hydration spray for quick moisture throughout the day, hypochlorous acid to support healing and keep things calm, and a double cleanse routine (oil-based first to break down makeup, then a gentle foaming or hydrating one) especially before bed. Having a couple of cleansers on hand lets you adapt as your skin changes day to day.

If you’re noticing sensitivity, dryness, breakouts, fine lines, hyperpigmentation—or you just feel lost on where to even start—those are signs your skin could use some extra attention. I usually suggest coming in every 1-2 weeks at first until we get things balanced. (A little purging like new pimples or blackheads right after a facial is normal—it’s your skin detoxing and clearing out. Real improvements in tone, texture, or clarity often show up after 2-3 months of consistent care.)

Some of the treatments I offer include dermaplaning, high frequency, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, enzymatic treatments, and targeted chest or back work. I can also help with lash lifts, eyebrow laminations, brow waxing, or a clean-up for beards.

If any of this resonates, just reach out. Your skin (and you) deserve the care. I’d love to help.

Come see me, your skin deserves the TLC!
