FAQs

Waxing

How long does hair need to be to get waxed?

For best results, your hair should be at least 1/4 inch long (about the length of a long grain of rice). If you're currently shaving this would equal 2-3 weeks of growth.

How long do waxing results last?

With proper prep and aftercare you can experience about 2 weeks of smooth skin between waxes.  With consistent waxing you may notice slower, finer regrowth over time.

How much will it hurt?

You may feel some discomfort, especially during your first appointment. Waxing is quick and I would describe it as more of a sting than true pain.  Avoid caffeine and other stimulants before your appointment as these can increase sensitivity.

Can I wax: on my period, with intimate piercings, while I'm pregnant

Absolutely! There's no need to stop your everyday life for any of these things.  We take great caution to ensure you are comfortable during your appointment.  We ask if you're on your cycle to please use a clean tampon or cup at the start of your appointment time.

Before & After Care

How should I prepare for my body waxing appointment?

Exfoliate the area gently 24 hours before and arrive with clean, dry skin.  Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 24 hours before your wax.

How should I prepare for my facial waxing appointment?

Discontinue use of all topical exfoliants (retin-A, tretinoin, hydroquinone) 7-14 days before your appointment. Always let your provider know if you are using these products at the start of your appointment. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds 24 hours before your appointment time.

What should I do after my wax?

For the first 24-48 hours after your wax avoid hot showers, tight clothing, intimate skin-on-skin contact, sweat/working out, sun exposure, and exfoliation.  Your skin may be more sensitive during this time.  Your pores are open from the hair removal process and avoiding these activities helps reduce irritation, friction, and bacteria that may cause ingrown hairs & breakouts.

Skin Care

What kind of skincare treatments do you offer?

All skincare treatments at Bare Rituals are customized to your skins needs, and the concerns discussed during consultation.  We currently offer enzyme peels, dermaplaning, high frequency, acne treatments, extractions, anti-aging, and hydrating facial treatments.

How do I know which facial is right for me?

The only thing you need to decide on is your time commitment! If you're looking for a quick, results driven appointment that you can fit in with a busy schedule I recommend the Express Ritual. If you have time for a fully immersive experience then the Indulge Ritual is for you.

How often should I get a facial?

Based on your treatment goals, available time, and financial commitment facials are recommended anywhere from every 2 weeks to quarterly treatments.  Remember, 80% of your results come from treating the skin at home!

Do you offer treatments for: teens, pregnancy, acne, or sensitive skin?

Yes! All facial appointments include consultation time to discuss what products and modalities are most appropriate for your concerns.
