The Brick by Brick virtual apprenticeship program is designed to take aspiring tattoo artists and set them on the path to success. This isn’t just about learning to tattoo—it's about attention to detail and envisioning yourself and your business within the community. Whether you’re in the starting stages of a career change or have a few self-taught years under your belt and looking to improve, Oc’s decade and a half of experience combines technical skill with real-world insight. Through the next 15 weeks, this Virtual Apprenticeship guides you through everything from the fundamentals of tattooing, to building a brand that sets you apart in the industry, Brick by Brick is your first step in building a new life as a thriving artist- not a starving one.
Step 1:
tattoo fundamentals
In the first phase, you'll build a strong foundation in the background of tattooing. You’ll learn the history of the craft, the importance of cleanliness, and the basics of everyday equipment. From understanding machine mechanics to preparing stencils, this phase sets the stage for your technical and creative development. By the end, you’ll be ready to apply your knowledge to skill.
Step 2:
GETTING STARTED
This phase is all about getting hands-on experience. In the next 10 weeks you’ll practice line work, shading, and color techniques on fake skin while receiving feedback on your progress. By combining what you’ve learned in Phase 1 with practical skills, you’ll start developing and refining your personal style and tattooing abilities.
Step 3:
Prep Your Business
The last phase teaches you a crash course on industry ethics and professionalism. Learn how to market yourself and secure a spot in an established tattoo shop. This is also your opportunity to meet one-on-one with Oc and get some more individualized critiques. You’ll work together to finalize your projects from the past weeks and build your fake skin portfolio. When week 15 is complete you’ll have a deep understanding of what it takes to enter the world of tattooing and be ready to start the next step of your journey.
