How Can We Help?

FAQs

Do You Take Insurance

Insurance payment is mostly based on the “standard of care” and determination of medical necessity. This is defined (loosely) as the expected treatment for a given condition and the insurance company’s perception of a person’s need for it. For example, the standard of care for elevated cholesterol is to give a statin drug. That is what is expected in the traditional medical model. If the practitioner practices differently, or recommends holistic care, then it’s not the standard of care. The insurance company determines it is not necessary for you, and then it is denied. Taking control of your health outside of the boundaries of traditional medicine is the holistic and preventative path that many people are now choosing to take. There is power in choosing to pay for the health services that you deem necessary for the betterment of your health, and value given in this regard with the energy and effort you invest in your health re-building program. Although insurance is not an option, payment plans are available if needed.

How much does it cost?

Because I work one-on-one and take into consideration every unique clients individual goals, and since health and financial situations vary, I offer separate programs at different price points. Because the costs will also depend on which functional lab tests we decide to use, I have all potential clients complete a health questionnaire and schedule a complimentary Health Discovery consultation with me, so we can determine which program will best meet your needs, and if we are a good fit to proceed forward in working together in a Wellness Program. Also, depending on the program and your situation, payment plans may be available

Do you give guarantees or refunds?

The programs that I offer are about you taking positive, consistent action to develop a solid foundation of simple lifestyle habits to improve your health. If you participate fully, you should achieve the results you are looking for. If you do not show up 100% for yourself, our sessions, or follow through on the commitments we’ve made together, the only guarantee is that the program will not work for you! I do not make any guarantees on my programs because I have no control over your commitment, compliance, or dedication towards reaching your health goals. I do not offer a refund. This is to help you commit and be accountable for the investment you have made toward your health, and to encourage your success. One of the purposes of the initial complimentary Health Discovery Session is to get clarity on your need for changing the state of your health and the commitment level in which you are willing to give, in order to achieve that change. My time is limited and reserved for my existing dedicated clients, and your time is also very valuable and not to be wasted on a program in which you are not 100% committed.

Can't my doctor just order my labs?

Typically, the answer is no, unless your practitioner is a Functional Medicine doctor or naturopath who uses the same laboratories and panels in which I use, and the results are recent within the past year, ideally the past 6 months. Most traditional medical doctors are not familiar with functional lab testing. The reason for this lies in the understanding between pathological vs. functional. Medical doctors deal with pathology which relates to the causes and impacts of a disease state or condition. Therefore, pathological testing differs from functional. Rather than in-depth lab markers to give extensive insight, the markers would be more definitive of disease being present or not, the grey area is not often accounted for or taken into consideration. Furthermore, the pathological lab range means that the number falls outside of the realm that that specific lab recognizes as ’normal’. It lands in the territory where it would be recognized as part of the pathology of the diagnosed condition. The problem with this approach is that someone could have ‘normal’ levels of one of those lab markers according to pathological interpretation, but still be showing signs that relate to an imbalance. This is why Functional Practitioners help those individuals who are suffering and not getting better. Functional testing lab ranges are much more narrow in range in contrast to conventional lab ranges that are derived from the average health of the general population. Given the current epidemic of obesity, diabetes, high blood sugar, and hypertension, being within ‘normal’ lab range is not a very high bar in which to assess your health. Many people don’t feel well because they’re walking around with subclinical deficiencies in various nutrients, or levels of biological compounds (blood cells, hormones, microbial factors or pH levels). Their imbalances are not pathological, but they are not optimal either. This is where Functional Practitioners come in- to analyze in-depth lab testing with the goal of getting our clients to reach optimal lab ranges. These levels nourish, strengthen, create resiliency, and can even bring a person out of a disease state.

What do I bring to my health discovery appointment?

If you did not complete the Onboarding Wellness Survey when scheduling your appointment, I will send you this brief questionnaire to complete in full detail regarding your current health complaint(s) and goals. If you have any recent (within the past 6 months) lab reports you wish me to see, I may also take that into account for our appointment. You will need to submit this information to me at least 24 hours prior to our scheduled Health Discovery session so I have sufficient time to review. The purpose of the complementary Health Discovery Session is to review and determine how my programs may help you and if we both feel we are a good fit to work together for your success.
