Hey, friends. Happy Spring!
To start with some positive news: Recovery is going well. I had a really good surgeon and everything is healing great. I got my cast off and stitches out earlier this month, and got started on physical therapy last week. Getting around is getting easier which is cool because I am SO BORED.
The surgeon told me on day one in the hospital that it might be 3 months before I returned to work. I heard him, but 3 months seemed wild to me at the time and I think I was assuming that to be a worst case scenario timeline. Now that I'm a few weeks in and really understand this injury, I get it. I'm still not cleared to walk or drive (boring), but they're letting me begin to put a little weight on it. My physical therapist confirmed the 3 month timeline for returning to work, adding that I'll likely need to start with 4 hour days at first and build up from there.
So the bad news is, its looking like it will be mid to end of June before I'm back in the studio. I know I have many of you on the books over the next couple of weeks and into May, and I'm going to have to cancel those appointments. I'm so sorry and I'm SO BUMMED! I was really hoping to be back at it by then.
In the meantime, please continue to reach out if you have any questions or need a recommendation. Or just want to say hi :) I'll send another update when I start planning for a return date. You guys are all awesome - I appreciate all the texts/emails/phone calls checking in and all the support and encouragement over the last few weeks. I hope you are having a great spring!

Hey, friends.
I have an important update to share (spoiler alert: it's not exciting).
To those of you who had your appointments canceled last minute this week with little explanation - I am so sorry. Being consistently dependable for you guys is a huge part of how I run my business; it's intentional, and I work hard to avoid any schedule interruptions unless absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, this was one of those times.
Monday night, I ended up in the ER after dislocating and breaking my right ankle in several places (if you're a Stranger Things fan, think season 4 style gory). I was admitted overnight, and had surgery to repair it with plates and screws on Tuesday. X-rays confirmed that I also sprained and fractured my left ankle, but it's very mild in comparison and thankfully all I needed was a boot for that one.
Unfortunately, I am pretty immobile and won't be able to work for a while. How long? It's hard to say. I have a follow up scheduled with my surgeon in a couple of weeks, and will hopefully be able to begin physical therapy as soon as possible - but if I could guess, I would say it will likely be 6 weeks or more before I am able to begin taking clients again.
Obviously, this is bad news for you and your hair! The good news is that I've been in the industry a long time, and I have several friends in town that I trust to take care of you guys while I'm out. Please reach out to me via phone/text/email if you don't have a backup barber and you'd like a recommendation.
Thanks so much for your patience these last few days. I'll keep you all updated as I know more.
