No. Trauma informed yoga can be a great adjunct to mental health treatment, though should not be utilized as a replacement for therapy.
Classes focus on cultivating three main aspects that support one’s relationship between mind and body: Empowerment, Interoception, and Effective Action. By noticing your internal thoughts, feelings, sensations, or reactions to yoga movements (Interoception), you may decide on and execute which form(s) are preferable to you (Effective Action) based on your own comfort level, boundaries, and personal goals (Empowerment).
Everyone. All bodies, all-levels, all the time. Trauma informed yoga isn’t only for those who have traumatic experiences. These classes may be especially helpful for anyone seeking a healthy relationship with their mind-body connection.
