Must read information before scheduling your cosmetic tattooing procedure
1. Prior to your permanent cosmetic enhancement, think about how you want it to look. As experts in the field, we ensure that the correct color(s) and shape are chosen for you. However, we want you to be a part of the decision-making process.
2. Be prepared for the color, and intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. The work from your initial procedure will lose between 30%-60% of the color and intensity as the skin heals.
3. If you are nervous, consider bringing headphones and music. Numbing will be used during the whole procedure.
4. Cosmetic tattooing is not recommended for clients with the following conditions:
• Pregnant or nursing
• Botox or dermal fillers in the procedure area within the last 6 months
• Taken actuate in the past 1.5 years AND your skin has not regulated o Diabetic (Client must bring a signed consent letter from their Doctor)
• Autoimmune disorders (Client must bring a signed consent letter from their Doctor)
• Organ transplant (Client must bring a signed consent letter from their Doctor)
• Chemotherapy in the past year
• Contagious diseases or viral infections
• Epileptic as seizures (Client must bring a signed consent letter from their Doctor)
• Within 5 days of having their eyebrows or hair on forehead waxed
• Within 14 days of electrolysis or laser hair removal on their forehead
• Within one month of a Chemical Peel-Skin should not be in process of healing before procedure!
• Active sunburn or frostbite
• Current use of products with ingredients such as alpha or beta hydroxyls (Retin-A products). Discontinue use 14 days prior to procedure.
• Use of blood thinning drugs or blood pressure medications
• History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring, although not common with this procedure because the procedure does not go as deep as a regular tattoo machine.
• Allergies to ingredients in topical numbing creams, lidocaine, metals (iron, nickel, etc.)
If none of the conditions, procedures, or product use apply to you, then please read the following:
• Do not drink coffee, or any caffeinated beverages the day of your treatment. Caffeine is a stimulant, and will cause your procedure to be more painful.
• No Lip Filler/treatments 3 weeks before procedure (or 4 weeks after) (LIP BLUSHING
procedure)
• Do NOT drink any alcohol 24 hours prior to your procedure. In fact, the less alcohol you drink in the days leading up to and for the 7 days after your Microblading procedure, the faster your body will heal.
• Plan your procedure with your schedule/vacations/events. DO NOT schedule when you have an upcoming event that conflicts with healing. You will need 10 days to heal.
• Do not take aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil or Ibuprofen during 24 hours before treatment.
• Do not tint your eyebrows one week prior to “brow” treatment. You should not tint your eyebrows or dye your skin for 2 weeks after your procedure.
• Do not tan or sun bathe the week before your appointment. We cannot tattoo on sunburned skin.
• Do not wax the area one week before treatment: Waxing treatments should be performed no less than 5 days prior to your enhancement.
• No chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermabrasion, mesotherapy, or any other intense treatment, that will cause your skin cells to rejuvenate faster. This will affect the healing of your procedure, and cause them to fade much faster.
• Laser hair removal should be done 2 weeks before your procedure.
• Electrolysis treatments, if on the forehead, should be performed no less than 5 days prior to your brow tattoo.
• If you have had Botox or dermal filler injections, you must wait one month from the date of your injections to have your procedure.
• Wash your hair before your procedure.
• Since we are working with the delicate skin on your face, the area around your procedure may be swollen or red. You are advised not to make social plans on the day of your enhancement if this is something that will bother you.
• No Foundation, or makeup on or around the procedure for 10 days
• Do NOT discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.
• Do NOT use AHA skincare products close to the enhancement area 2 weeks prior to procedure
• The National Blood Service does not accept donations of blood for 1 year after a permanent cosmetic enhancement.
• VERY IMPORTANT for Lip Blushing: If you have a history of cold sores you'll need to start taking an anti-viral prescription (Valacyclovir, Denavir (penciclovir), Valtrex or acyclovir
(Zovirax)), at least a week BEFORE your proposed procedure. Cold sore outbreaks are often triggered by stress or trauma to the lips and skin. Therefore if you are a carrier, lip blush will
likely cause an outbreak if you do not take an anti-viral medication prior. Your appointment WILL be cancelled if you have had a history of cold sores and do not follow this instruction (with cancellation fees). This is because cold sores will effect the healing/results and can even
lead to scarring. So please do not skip this step, you will be happy you didn't and have better results.
(i) Your new tattoo will go through several phases during the next 10 days. Initially, will be very dark, and they might even look bold, harsh, and thicker than you wanted. DO NOT BE ALARMED! This is normal. Remember the motto above: heal, peel, & fade! It is normal for your skin to be red and inflamed after your procedure. This should be significantly reduced by Day 3. This is because the pigment is still sitting on top of your skin, has not been absorbed, and it’s going to stay this way until Day 7, give or take a day.
Remember, your skin is in its healing process.
(ii) By Day 7, the area will start to look very dry, and the tattoo will begin flaking off. DO NOT
PICK- keep those hands of yours away from the area. Allow the tattoo to slough off naturally.
If you are uncomfortable with the way that the dryness looks, or are finding it itchy, you can
use a little bit of Aloe Vera gel (If you are allergic to aloe, please use rose water) If the
itchiness still feels intolerable, you can pick up a Bactine at your local drug store. Bactine is a
topical first aid with local anesthetic that will help with itching, and make the flakiness look
less obvious.
(iii) 30%-60% of the tattoo will be gone by day 10. This is normal. Your results will last for up to
3 years – possibly longer if you have dry skin, and possibly less if you have very oily skin.
There are a few other things that will affect your tattoo’s appearance, and you can find that
information on the second page.
(iv) A note about the healing process: Since everyone’s body is different, everyone’s healing
process is different. The better you take care of yourself (eating healthy, resting, etc.), the
better and faster your brows will heal. It is important not to drink or smoke (yes, this
includes marijuana!) for the first 3 days after your procedure.
(v) Days 1- 3: Apply a thin layer of Bacitracin morning and night, for the first two days
following your procedure. After Day 3 (your appointment date is Day 1), discontinue use of
Bacitracin.
(vi) To Shower, or Not To Shower? Before bathing, apply a layer of Bacitracin on the area. This
will prevent water from getting into your still-healing tattoo. As an extra precaution, tilt your
head back in the shower rather than allowing the water to run down your face. You must also
do this when you are washing your face. Gently remove the Bacitracin using a dry cloth,
cotton suave or Kleenex. Bacitracin can be found at any drug store.
(vii)Post Procedure No-No’s: Your First 10 Days
(i) Do not put makeup on or around the area until after Day 10.
(ii)Make sure you are using a clean pillow case.
(iii)Do not tint the area with henna or skin dyes.
(iv)Do not expose your to excessive sunlight. Wear a hat if you are going to be in direct sunlight
for an extended period of time.(v)No saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, hot yoga – Anything that causes you to sweat may
negatively affect your results. Sweat contains dirt, toxins, and bacteria. You do not want sweat
to get into your still-healing tattoo!
(vi) Do not go swimming in a chlorine pool, or submerge your head underwater.
(vii)Do not rub, pick at, or scratch the area. This will disrupt the healing process, and may
remove the pigment before it is ready to come off, potentially leading to less that will look
more like the ones you came in to get fixed.
(viii)Do not use any products with AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acid), Vitamin A, Retinol, Glycolic
acid, or lactic acids.
(ix) Check the back of your face lotions and products. If they have any of the above ingredients
in them, it is recommended that you do not use them anywhere near your procedure area, as
these can cause the lines of your tattoo to blur, and/or the color of your tattoo to change.
(x) Do not use any natural oils to aid in healing process. Natural oils (and synthetic oils) will
pull out the pigment and cause the crisp lines to blur. Using such oils on the area, even after
they are healed, will also have the same negative effect.
(xi) Do not get Botox injections or facial filler injections until 1 month after your appointment.
After the first 10 days:
(i) Always wear waterproof sunblock to prevent fading when exposed to direct sunlight for an
extended period of time.
(ii)Do not use any oils (natural or synthetic) on the area. This will cause the crisp lines to blur,
and can also cause your tattoo’s color to fade or and or change color.
(iii)You are not allowed to donate blood until one year has passed from your last procedure.
Eyeliner/lash enhancement is not recommended for clients with the following conditions:
The following conditions do not prevent you from getting cosmetic tattoos, but should be considered when deciding if it is right for you.
~Cirrhosis of the Liver: Susceptible to infection
~Scar tissue: Scars can be tattooed over, however be aware that scar tissue can prevent proper healing; pigment may not take to the skin at all. This can happens if you've had microblading or permanent makeup in the past.
~Platelet Disorders- Causes more bleeding to occur, and therefore lower pigment retention.
~Moles/raised areas in or around the area: Pigment will not be put into moles or anything raised but can be tattooed around them
~Thyroid medications: Potential for faster fading and need for more touch-ups
~Auto Immune Disorder of any kind (MS, RA, Lupus etc): Due to the medicines to treat these disorders, pigment will not retain well
~Anemia: Will require more touch-ups
~Tanning: May alter color over time
MEDICATIONS: Taking certain medications can effect your skin and the way it heals. Taking a lot of different medications at once will also make it harder to predict how well the permanent makeup will heal on you (no its not the same as a regular tattoo).
The following medications will prevent proper pigment retention and if you take any of these regularly you should not get permanent makeup:
Triflusal (Disgren)
Clopidogrel (Plavix)
Prasugrel (Effient)
Ticagrelor (Brilinta)
Ticlopidine (Ticlid)
Cilostazol (Pletal)
Vorapaxar (Zontivity)
Dipyridamole (Persantine)
Coumadin
Pradaxia (Dabigatran)
Xarelto (Rivaroxaban)
Eliquis (Apixaban)
Savaysa (Edoxaban)
Time spent in the sun and overall health play a factor in fading/healing.
