Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on treatment that uses light touch to release tension in the central nervous system. The goal is to relieve pain and improve overall health by balancing the tissues and fluids surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

During your Craniosacral Session, your therapist will apply light pressure and holds, anywhere from 2-5 minutes each hold, to encourage cerebrospinal fluid to flow throughout your body uninhibited. Your body is comprised of varying densities of tissue, fluid, and energy; CST treats them all. Life experiences are processed through your body, when overwhelmed or traumatic instances occur, they are held there. CST helps your body release the effects of held trauma.

Himalayan Salt Stone

During a Salt Stone Massage, your body experiences light exfoliation while the heat relieves sore tight muscles, it also allows for the deposit of much needed minerals. Such as Iron, Calcium and Magnesium to name a few. it is also known for, and used to reduce inflammation in the muscles, and fascia. Your Therapist will use the stones throughout your massage; rotating them out to guarantee the stones maintain temperature and place them on specific points of the body, like the sacrum, palms of hands and soles of the feet.

Warm Stone

While similar to our Himalayan Salt Stone massage, these stones are made from Basalt, a volcanic rock. Their therapeutic Warmth reaches deep tissue layers for lasting relief, stimulates blood flow and reduces stress by lowering cortisol levels, soothes the nervous system naturally and loosens tight muscles. This relaxation modality melts away tension, guiding the body into a state of profound calm and rest.

What is Cupping?

Cupping is a Therapeutic technique where cups are placed on the skin to create suction. This helps to improve blood flow, release toxins and tension as well as fascial adhesions, which leads to supporting the bodies natural healing process. The process will leave circular red spots on your body where the cups were placed and parked, we recommend holding off on doing cupping before going to any weddings or special events if you don't want the marks visible in photos.

Benefits of Cupping

The benefits of cupping are improved blood circulation, assistance in muscle tension and tightness. It is also used to provide pain relief in your back, shoulder and chest muscles, which is where most people hold their stress. At Pine and Stone Healing Massage, our Therapists use cups throughout the massage to glide and slide along your back and leg muscles and are placed in several locations where your therapist, or even the cups, determine  the need or placement. They will stay in that location to allievate the tension or fascial adhesion for a few minutes during your session. Cupping is also considered another form of deep tissue therapy.

What is Gua Sha Scraping?

Gua sha is an East Asian healing technique. A trained professional uses a small, smooth-edged tool to firmly scrape your skin in one direction. This can help improve blood flow and reduce inflammation. According to traditional Chinese medicine, good health relies on chi, or energy, to easily flow through your body. If this important force gets blocked in an area, you can start to have health issues. Gua sha is believed to get this vital energy "unstuck" and flowing again. It's often used to help treat chronic pain throughout the body.

Benefits of Gua Sha Scraping

Today, Gua Sha is getting noticed for its skin benefits and use for myofascial release. Scraping your skin and causing petechiae to appear on your skin is believed to activate both your immune system and nervous system, setting off a complex chain of events in your body. Studies show that when done correctly, Gua Sha can release chemicals that improve blood flow, lessen toxins, reduce pain, and promote healing in the area. It also helps with tight muscles, swelling, anxiety, sinus pressure and fatigue. A major benefit provided by Gua Sha, is the breakup of scar tissue.
