Salon Procedure and Policy
Thank you for choosing SC4Kids! Prior to booking, please take the time to go through and read our salon policy and procedure. It is important to understand and maintain the salon policies. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance to ensure that this is the best experience for all parties!
Deposit
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book. At this time a $2 processing fee will also be applied. The 50% deposit is applied towards your service. Deposits can roll over once (if rescheduled in time) up to one month (30 days) after original appointment date. Thereafter, deposit is void and a new deposit will be required.
Scheduling
Our salon schedule opens 8 weeks in advance therefore, you are able to schedule an appointment that is two months ahead. Please make sure to read all of the descriptions of the services to make sure that it is correct. For time purposes, make sure to book for any additional services that you would need. Services are rendered for those from ages 2-18.
It is always best to reschedule appointments while you are checking out at the salon.
Service Information
If a request is submitted outside business hours, expect a response when business resumes.
Patients are not allowed to choose a particular hair pediatrician. We have created a salon environment that is conducive to collaboration. All of the stylists work together to make sure that each appointment runs smoothly. It is also important for children to be acclimated and comfortable with all the hair pediatricians therefore we do not allow parents to choose a specific stylist.
On average, each appointment is two and half hours. This is only an estimate and it is important to understand that every patient has different needs that can take more or less time.
Please let us know if you have time constraints prior to their appointment.
Although we offer silk presses as a service, you must have a stylist’s approval to book for it. At SC4Kids, we value healthy hair over anything else and a silk press requires excessive heat that only healthy, mature hair can tolerate.
At SC4Kids we strive to ensure that every service is completed with excellence however, in the case that one is unsatisfied with their appointment, the best way to find a resolve is to reach out directly to the salon manager with your concern via email sc4kidsinc@gmail.com or via text at 512-635-8585.
Waitlist
If you are unable to find an appointment time that works for you, you may join the waitlist. If an opening becomes available, Vagaro will automatically add you to the schedule and send you a notification for confirmation. Please make sure that your information is correct so that you are able to receive all of the notifications.
Do not disregard putting actual dates and times even if you are open. You will be required to schedule your appointment directly through the booking site. The waitlist resets monthly. To be notified about future openings, you must submit a new form.
Cancellation Policy
There are several reminders sent leading up to appointment time to give you an opportunity to cancel/reschedule if needed. If you cancel your appointment outside of the 72-hour window your deposit will be forfeited. Please note, when you schedule an appointment, this time is set aside specially for you therefore, if you cancel, you are taking a slot that could have been for someone else. Additionally, in consideration of our stylist, we will maintain a strict cancellation policy and your deposit will not be refunded. Be advised that under no circumstances will there be any exceptions.
Late Policy
If you are more than 30 minutes late for your appointment, your appointment will be canceled and the deposit will not be refunded. Please be advised that if you are late to your appointment, another appointment will take precedence and you may have to wait longer than your appointment time. After 30 minutes the appointment will be canceled, and the deposit will be forfeited.
If you are more than 30 minutes late picking up your child, you will be charged $1 for every minute you are late. The salon place has been allocated for the patients being serviced.
Salon Etiquette
Salon etiquette is a vital contributor that ensures all clients have a pleasant and memorable experience during their time at SC4kids. We want to provide an environment for all clients that is stress free and allows them to fully engage in positive interactions with their stylists and peers. Salon etiquette is defined as the following:
We ask that if your child struggles with any behavior mentioned on the list above, that you consult a hair pediatrician to schedule for either the first or last appointment of the day as to not disrupt the experience of other clients. We appreciate your cooperation.
Payments
Debit/Credit, Cash, Apple and Android Pay are acceptable forms of payment. We do not accept personal checks.
All invoices must be paid prior to receiving another appointment. Your appointments will not be confirmed until your account no longer has any pending payments.
Extra Guest
We only allow the patient being serviced in the salon during their appointment. We do not allow any parents or other children to stay in the salon. Our salon is our stage. Therefore, when there are unexpected onlookers observing our performance in the space, it can be uncomfortable for the pediatricians to perform to the best of their capability.
Additionally, our facilities are for children only. The kids are learning how to use the restroom and we would like for the bathroom to stay as sanitary as possible.
Luckily the salon is located in downtown, east Austin in the African-American Historical District and there are ample opportunities to explore and try different things in the area. Some of our favorites are the Carver Library and Hillside Pharmacy. You can also take a gander at our historical black college: Huston-Tillotson University or site seeing through the monuments at the Capital on east 11th Street. We strongly encourage parents to take advantage of this time alone.
Appointment Preparation
Prior to getting started at SC4Kids, every patient must book a consultation. This is a special opportunity for the patient to familiarize themselves with the stylists, the salon and alter or establish a hair regimen. Getting your hair done for the first time or breaking old habits can be difficult therefore, having an initial meet and greet is very helpful.
You must have your child’s hair taken down and thoroughly detangled from root to tip prior to their hair appointment. If your child’s hair is not taken down and detangled, there will be an additional cost for the services or your appointment may be canceled and your deposit forfeited if there is no adequate time for the additional service. Additionally, it is vital for hair to be taken down at least 2-3 days before their appointment. A hair take-down, detangle, and style can be too much for a child to handle in one day. We want to ensure that every child has a great experience at SC4Kids. Please reach out to our salon manager if you are in need of accommodations.
It is always important to bring a backpack with healthy snacks, a closed container of water and/or juice and something to keep your child preoccupied during their appointment such as toys, a tablet, coloring books and crayons or a self-soothing object. Spill and mess-proof food are allowed. Snacks are preferable. Be mindful that we do not have a refrigerator or a microwave. Food that is delivered to the salon is acceptable however, bringing a prepared meal is the most time effective. Toddler’s that are still learning salon etiquette and to lean their head back in the shampoo bowl may require an extra shirt.
Salon Entry
The main building doors are locked from 5pm to 8am. Therefore, you must call the salon in order to enter at these times; there is no keypad for entry. Our salon is located inside a city building. The doors are open based on the corresponding hours of the city therefore, you will have to call the salon to enter during the weekends, evenings and holidays.
The parking spaces in the back of the building are free for your use
