First things first... Congratulations! You're about to have that "Where did you go on vacation?" glow—without spending hours in the sun.

To get the absolute best results, please read through this guide. A few simple steps make a huge difference!


BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

24 Hours Before

✨ Exfoliate Like You Mean It

Fresh skin = an even, longer-lasting tan.

Give extra attention to:

  1. Elbows
  2. Knees
  3. Hands
  4. Feet
  5. Ankles
  6. Underarms
  7. Any dry patches

Use an oil-free exfoliating mitt or scrub. Heavy oils can create a barrier and keep your tan from developing evenly.


🪒 Shave or Wax

Please shave or wax at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Freshly shaved skin can leave pores more open, which may affect how your tan develops.


💧 Hydrate Your Skin

Healthy skin holds a tan better!

Moisturize daily leading up to your appointment if your skin tends to be dry.

The day of your tan, skip all lotions, oils, creams, and sunscreen.


THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

Come in with:

✔ Clean skin

✔ No makeup

✔ No deodorant

✔ No lotion

✔ No perfume

✔ No body oil

✔ No sunscreen

Anything left on your skin can act like a raincoat—and we want your tan soaking in, not sliding off.


👕 Wear Loose Clothing

Think comfy.

Perfect choices:

  1. Oversized t-shirt
  2. Loose shorts
  3. Sweatpants
  4. Flip-flops or sandals

Try to avoid:

  1. Tight leggings
  2. Skinny jeans
  3. Sports bras
  4. Tight socks
  5. Tight shoes

Dark clothing is always your safest bet since a little cosmetic bronzer can transfer.


AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT


🤎 Trust the Process!

This is probably the most important thing to remember...

For the first few hours, you are NOT seeing your finished tan.

You'll be wearing what's called the cosmetic bronzer.

It can look:

  1. Extra dark
  2. Muddy
  3. Olive
  4. Gray-ish
  5. A little dirty

This is completely normal!

Don't judge your tan yet.

And if possible...


🚫 Don't Make Plans

Seriously.

You're probably not going to love how the cosmetic bronzer looks while it's developing—and that's okay!

Go home.

Relax.

Watch Netflix.

Read a book.

Take a nap.

Your beautiful tan is still developing underneath.

(Remember to not wash your hands or dishes during this time. When sitting, change your position often.)


⏰ Development Time

Your tanning solution should stay on for NO LONGER THAN 4 HOURS.

This is crucial.

Leaving it on longer will not make you darker.

In fact, it can actually increase the chance of dryness, uneven fading, oranging, or an overdeveloped appearance.

When I tell you your rinse time, please follow it carefully.


🚿 Your First Rinse

Now comes the part that surprises almost everyone...

"MY TAN WASHED OFF!"

Nope. 😊

What you're seeing wash away is the cosmetic bronzer.

Your actual tan is still developing underneath and will continue to deepen over the next 12–24 hours.

Please don't panic!

Almost every first-time client thinks they've washed their tan down the drain.

You didn't.

How To Rinse

For your very first rinse:

✔ Use lukewarm water only

✔ No soap

✔ No shampoo running over your body if possible

✔ No washcloth

✔ No loofah

As the water runs over you, use your hands in gentle circular motions, working from your head down to your feet.

This helps rinse away the cosmetic bronzer evenly and can help prevent streaking.

Once the water runs mostly clear, you're done!

Pat yourself dry with a towel—don't rub.

The Next 24 Hours

Your tan is still working its magic.

DO NOT PUT LOTION IN THE FIRST 24 HOURS AND WATCH MOISTURE + HEAT AS IT WILL DILUTE THE END RESULT.

You'll probably notice it getting prettier and more natural throughout the day.

This is exactly what we want!

KEEP YOUR GLOW GOING ✨

To make your tan last:

💧 Moisturize every day.

🚿 Take shorter showers.

🌡 Keep water warm instead of super hot.

🧴 Use gentle body wash.

🛁 Skip long baths when possible.

🧽 Avoid scrubbing your skin.

🧼 Pat dry after showers instead of rubbing.

The happier your skin is, the longer your tan stays beautiful.

THINGS THAT CAN MAKE YOUR TAN FADE FASTER

  1. Swimming
  2. Hot tubs
  3. Chlorine
  4. Long hot showers
  5. Heavy sweating
  6. Saunas
  7. Exfoliating products
  8. Retinol
  9. Acne medications on the skin
  10. Picking or peeling dry skin

Don't worry if your tan gradually fades—that's exactly what healthy skin does!

HOW LONG WILL MY TAN LAST?

Most clients enjoy their glow for 7–10 days, depending on:

  1. Your skin type
  2. Moisturizing habits
  3. Shower routine
  4. Exercise
  5. Swimming
  6. Your natural skin turnover

Everyone fades a little differently. You can use a light DHA gradual tanning lotion on face, hands and feet to extend your tan.
