What you should expect before, during, and after your session?

Before:

Before your appointment, please complete the forms sent to you via email after booking. If you can't fill them out ahead of time, plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete them at the clinic. If you need assistance, our therapist will be happy to help.

After reviewing your forms, your therapist will conduct a 5-15 minute intake interview. During this interview, we will discuss your session goals, preferences, any pain or discomfort, and any previous injuries or surgeries. The aim is to understand your needs and how we can best address them. For example, if your goal is simply to relax, the interview might only take 5 minutes. For chronic issues, it might take a bit longer. This intake time is separate from your hands-on treatment time.

After the intake interview, your therapist will instruct you on whether to lie face up or down and will leave the room for you to undress and get comfortable. Many clients choose to disrobe completely, while others prefer to keep certain garments on, and we can work around whatever you decide to wear. If you choose to wear leggings, for example, your therapist will ask if this is a boundary to avoid or if you prefer massage over the garment. Your comfort is our top priority

During:

Our therapist will follow the agreed-upon treatment plan, but it can be adjusted at any time based on your preferences. For instance, if we encounter a particularly challenging area, we can decide together whether to spend more time on it or move on. Your session is tailored to your needs and wants, and we are happy to modify the plan mid-session to ensure your comfort and satisfaction. This time is dedicated to you.

During the session, only the area being worked on will be undraped. For example, if we are working on your back, your lower body will remain covered. If we are working on your right arm, only that arm will be undraped. If at any time you feel uncomfortable or wish to adjust the draping, please let your therapist know. We aim to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

At some point during the session, we may ask you to turn over if you are able. Your therapist will create a little tent with the draping and guide you on which direction to turn, either towards or away from them, ensuring that the draping stays securely in place and that you remain covered at all times . If you prefer, the therapist can step out of the room to allow you to turn and get comfortable before reentering.

After:

When your massage comes to an end, your therapist will gently inform you and then exit the treatment area to allow you to get dressed in privacy.

Once you are ready, your therapist will either reenter the room or meet you in the lobby to discuss their findings. They will explain which muscles were particularly tense, how they addressed these areas, and provide suggestions for future care. This may include recommended stretches or exercises to help alleviate any problem areas. They will also allow time for any questions you may have.

After this discussion, your therapist will assist you with checkout. If you make another appointment within 24 hours of your session, you will receive $5 off your next appointment. Additionally, you will receive an email with a feedback form. Your responses are extremely helpful to us, as they enable us to improve our services and better cater to your specific needs.

Am I too big for massage?

Absolutely not! Jasmine understands the importance of feeling comfortable and accepted; massage is for every. body. To ensure that everyone feels comfortable and safe, Jasmine invested in a table holds up to 600lbs, can be semi-reclined for those who find it difficult to lie fully on their backs, and has an electric lift to lower accordingly. The table is 32" wide, expanding to 38" with arm extenders, and she has queen size sheets and blankets to ensure that clients feel securely covered. Your comfort and relaxation are her top priorities, so please don't hesitate to reach out with any other questions or concerns!

Is it normal to feel sore after a massage?

It's quite common to feel some soreness following your massage, particularly if you've received deep tissue work. This soreness is akin to what you might experience after a workout. If it's your initial massage or if it's been a while since your last one, you might be more susceptible to soreness as your body adapts to the treatment. Typically, this soreness subsides within a day or two, and you should notice significant improvements in your muscles afterward. If the soreness is more intense or persists longer than expected, don't hesitate to discuss it with your therapist so they can tailor their approach accordingly!

How often should I get a massage?

For the majority of clients, scheduling a massage every 4-6 weeks is typically beneficial. However, if you're dealing with specific issues that require more attention, biweekly appointments may be recommended. If you're content with a 4-6 week interval but are experiencing challenges with a particular issue, incorporating a 30-minute "tune-up" session between your regular appointments can also be beneficial.

How much should I undress?

Many clients choose to disrobe completely, while others prefer to keep certain garments on, and we can work around whatever you decide to wear. If you choose to wear leggings, for example, your therapist will ask if this is a boundary to avoid or if you prefer massage over the garment.

If you would prefer to remain entirely dressed, we even offer a fully clothed massage option!

Do you accept insurance?

Unfortunately, we do not accept insurance at this time. However, some Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) do cover these sessions. If needed, your therapist can provide you with a detailed invoice via email, which you can submit to your insurance.

Will your massage hurt?

Your massage should never cause pain. The key to this is excellent communication. Your therapist will regularly check in about the pressure and any tenderness during the session, but it is also important for you to inform your therapist if anything feels painful. While we do our best to read non-verbal cues, the most effective way is for you to speak up and let us know.

Though some techniques might feel intense, they should always feel therapeutic, not painful. Using a pain scale where 1 is no pain and 10 is extremely painful, your discomfort level should never exceed a 7. Pain causes your muscles to tense up and your nervous system to work against the treatment. Our goal as therapists is to release, relax, and lengthen the muscle and connective tissues.

Are therapists judging my body?

We aren't in the business of judging bodies—far from it! We're dedicated to creating a comfortable and supportive environment where you can relax and feel your best. With our professional training, we approach each session with respect and focus solely on providing effective care tailored to your needs. So, rest assured, your therapist is there to help you feel great, not to judge whether you shaved or not. If you ever have any concerns, feel free to communicate with your therapist—they're committed to ensuring your comfort and well-being throughout your massage experience.

Can I talk during my session?

Whether or not to talk during a massage is entirely up to you. Some people find it relaxing to chat with their therapist, while others prefer to remain quiet and focus on the experience. The most important thing is your comfort. Your therapist will follow your lead!

What if I fall asleep during my session?

Falling asleep during a massage is quite common and is actually a sign that your body is deeply relaxed and responding well to the treatment. Even during deep tissue techniques, your body may experience intense releases making you extra sleepy. Your therapist will continue the session as usual, focusing on the areas that need attention. If you doze off, there's no need to worry—your therapist will gently wake you up towards the end of the session, allowing you to gradually come back to full awareness. Ultimately, the goal of the massage is to promote relaxation and wellness, so if sleep happens, it's all part of the process.

What if I have to use the bathroom during my massage?

We've all experienced it before. You're feeling incredibly comfortable and relaxed during your session when suddenly the need to use the restroom arises. Simply inform your therapist, and they will step out of the treatment area to provide you with privacy to quickly redress and head to the restroom!
