WHAT is ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a holistic, natural system of medicine that originated in India over 3,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (knowledge).

Ayurveda is based on the idea that disease is caused by an imbalance in a person's consciousness, mind, body, or energy. Ayurveda views the body and mind as a whole, and considers more than just a person's physical health. It also takes into account environmental factors, stress, and digestion.

Ayurvedic treatments aim to restore balance of the mind and body through a variety of practices, including: lifestyle, treatments and bodywork therapies, daily self care and routine, as well as the incorporation of herbal remedies. Rejuvenation of the body is a wonderful gift that Ayurveda gives us, but it also gifts us the tools the prevent dis-ease all together.
