My Journey

Joselyn Trujillo

Acne had always been something that I struggled with since my teen years. The main way I fought that struggle was by having an esthetician who provided me with facials and at-home recommendations to improve my skin health. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, I lost access to my esthetician, which made me curious about learning how to treat my own skin. While not the best idea in hindsight, it opened my eyes to the complexity of skin care and the importance of using professional services. It also sparked a hunger to learn more about this industry. I made a decision to enroll in esthetics school and haven't looked back since. One esthetician license and four years of spa experience later, my passion has only grown as I've been able to learn from more accomplished people under a prestigious brand in the industry. I've come to see though that not everyone can afford services at a day spa price. By founding Trü Skin and Beauty, I want to transform the industry by providing a space where people can receive the best quality treatments at a price inclusive for everyone.

My Most Asked Questions

How Long have you been an esthetician?

I've worked as an esthetician for more than four years now, and have had experience in private treatments for over three years.

how do you choose what products to work with?

There is a lot of research that goes into the brand of products that I choose to work with. I first look for brands that have a good reputation in the skin care industry, and then I look into which brand offers the best training, guidance, and support. This is really important for me because I believe it's necessary to be well educated in each product you carry when you are dealing with a large variety of skin types, conditions, concerns, and goals. Ultimately, carrying a product I believe in and love helps me to maintain my standard of quality during services. I'm currently an affiliate of Glymed+ and am very pleased to be able to work with them!

what's your personal favorite facial?

My personal favorite facial is the DermeLuxx Pro Hydrodermabrasion with the dermaplaning and nano needling enhancements. It's a non-invasive treatment that cleans the pores while resurfacing the skin, improving texture and reducing wrinkles. The addition of nano needling helps to boost cellular regeneration and long term skin health. Overall, it is a treatment with guaranteed results that uses most innovative tools and techniques the industry has to offer!

how do I know when I need a facial?

Skin care isn't a "one and done" thing -- it should be an important part of your normal routine. Just as one might take care of their hygiene every day, we also need to do the same for our skin. Based on your goals and needs, a knowledgeable esthetician will recommend a different routine for everyone, but a good rule of thumb is that you should be getting a facial at least 1-2 times a month.

do you like your job?

I don't just like my job, I love it! It's a privilege to be able to offer my services to all of my clients, and I carry out every job with their best interests in mind because that is what I feel they deserve.
