I picked up my first pair of clippers at 19 and fell in love with cutting hair right away. After high school, I found myself in the construction industry, where I started cutting my coworkers' hair. Through OSHA and safety work, I built relationships and learned the trades, but barbering was always my true passion.
Even while working in construction full-time, I never stopped cutting hair. In 2008, I moved back to Texas and went to barber school in 2009. The 2010 recession hit hard, leaving me homeless, but I still succeeded in getting my barber license and started cutting hair full-time.
In 2017, I opened my first barbershop. COVID-19 forced a two-month closure in 2020, but we still pulled in $1 million in revenue. The business kept booming, hitting $1.2 million in 2021, $1.5 million in 2022, and $1.7 million in 2023. In December 2023, I opened a second location that's already grossed $700,000 in less than 6 months.
I love helping and mentoring others. When I saw the barber industry struggling, I started studying the market. I realized the booth rental model wasn’t profitable, so I decided to apply the commission model from the cosmetology world to barbering. I met John Mosley, who took me under his wing. I funneled everything I learned from John into my business culture. Now, I teach everything I’ve learned to others, helping them grow just like I did.
