Lana Santos is the proud owner of Pura Vida Day Spa since its establishment in 2010. Lana was 20 years old when she discovered her love of the beauty industry. She worked for a busy day spa where she learned her client satisfaction skills and got a taste of what beauty meant to others. Loving the spa industry and knowing she wanted a challenge Lana decided to start her own business. Lana’s attitude was always “sink or swim” and in this case she was determined to swim. She was offered a space through a friend on Maine Street Brunswick. Every penny she had was spent to make the spa her own and well worth it. She prides her space with top of the line products and results driven skin care.

Pura Vida Day Spa received its name after Lana's first trip to Costa Rica. During her time there, she fell in love with the essence of the people, environment, and culture, especially the saying, "Pura Vida." The native Costa Rican phrase "Pura Vida" (pronounced poo-rah vee-dah), means "Pure Life," which is a philosophy that embraces the simple treasures of life. It is not only a saying, but is a lifestyle. Lana adopted this philosophy with the goal to bring this beautiful way of life to the community of Downtown Brunswick. Being able to support the local community in this way is something Lana truly cherishes. Costa Rica also opened Lana's eyes to the importance of sustainable beauty and sustainable beauty practices. With this in mind, Pura Vida Day Spa carries environment conscious brands such as Aveda, Davines, and Jane Iredale (just to name a few) that focus on not only the health of its' users, but the earth as well.

Pura Vida Day Spa's staff is made up of providers who Lana chooses that share her passion to help others, love of the beauty industry, and the determination to achieve perfection to the best of their ability. This combination has allowed Lana and her staff to be awarded MidCoast's Best Skin Care 9 years running, Best Day Spa 7 years running, Best Massage 3 years running, and recently MidCoast's Best Hair Colorist 2023 3 years running.
