FAQ

1. How do I prepare for a treatment?

For mobile treatments ensure you have sufficient space to have a massage table brought in and set up.

  1. Please ensure you have a parking space at your address.
  2. Please allow an additional 10 minutes for each treatment to allow for set up and take down of equipment and also to discuss your requirements which may change between treatments.
  3. Please provide enough towels to cover yourself comfortably and a pillow.
  4. For pregnancy massage treatments you will require up to 3 pillows / cushions.
  5. Please remove jewellery such as necklaces, tight bracelets, long earrings and other items that may restrict your treatment or may not benefit from coming into contact with oil.
  6. While you will be draped, please understand that oil residue may transfer to clothing, so please wear underwear that will allow for adjustment with towel draping.
  7. Please hydrate yourself well before treatments, refrain from heavy meals and alcohol before treatments.
2. Will Deep Tissue treatments hurt or be uncomfortable?

Deep Tissue Massage may be a little uncomfortable at times, but Synergistic Therapy’s approach is to help your nervous system to soften and allow you to release tension without pain. I do not operate under the ‘no pain, no gain’ maxim!

Pressure is adjusted to allow for the most effective treatment.

3. I haven’t had a treatment before, what happens and what should I expect?

Treatments are tailored to suit each client every time! Consultations are necessary to ensure that treatments are not contraindicated and to decide on adjustments necessary to make each treatment effective and blissful. Reflexology and Indian Head massage do. Not require body clothing to be removed whereas Massage and Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage treatments require most clothing to be removed. Pants/ knickers are kept on.

4. Do treatments diagnose or rid conditions?

No, they may help address physical, mental and emotional symptoms. Massage treatments may reduce tension and pain, and regular treatments may help to condition soft tissue, but clients may need to address lifestyle practices such as proper exercise, warm up, cool downs, stretching and adjustments to reduce poor posture.

5. How many sessions will I need?

This all depends on each client and issues presented which change over time. It is important to note, however that a single session may not be sufficient to ‘undo’ months of tension, fluid retention etc. It is best to expect that regular treatments taken as much prophylactically as much as remedy, are most effective.

6. What is the cancellation policy?

You may reschedule an appointment 12 hours before your scheduled session. You will be refunded your deposit should you cancel at least 24 hours prior to your booked appointment. Should you need to cancel your appointment within the 24 hours prior to your booked session, you will regrettably lose your deposit. This is to protect the integrity of a small and independent business.
