FAQ's

Format

USTA Doubles format matches and scoring. No-ad.

Co-ed, Mixed-up Doubles Round robin social, in which partners will be assigned and rotated every round. No partner needed! We will set it up for you! Sets don't matter in this round robin, only games won. That's how you win points!

Skill Level

ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME! However, you must know how to play a USTA doubles match and be familiar with scoring and rules.

Age Level

This tourney is for adults only. We hope to have additional tourneys in the future to include all ages!

How it works

Each player accepted into the tourney will be partnered with another player. You will receive your court assignment as well as your "home" or "away" team status. Your partnership may be mixed, or same gender partner and your opponents may be mixed or same gender. Each partnered team with play with each other for 1 round, then players will switch partners and opponents for the following rounds.

In each round of the social, we will have set up a random partner for the doubles team pairings. At the end of each round, players will change partners and perhaps move courts. The 4 finalist players are the 4 single players with the most points won after the last round is completed.

You will serve, score and play sets per USTA regulations with no-ad scoring. When the round allotted time is up, your teams will finish the current point, take a small break, then refer to the posted schedule to find your next teammate, opponent and court assignment.

How will I know if I am accepted?

You will receive an email confirmation after registration from our tourney coordinators. If you have any questions please email us at tennis@foxridgeclub.com.

Rules for our RR Tourney

“Home team” of each round will choose to serve or pick a side of the court. You will switch sides of the court during the round the same as a USTA match – every odd-numbered game.

You will continue playing until the time is called, no matter how many games have been won. Sets do not matter, only games.

Each round will be limited to 20 minutes. There will be a 5-minute verbal warning, then a whistle blow to signal the end of the round. You will then have a 5-minute break to get water and get to your next round court and partner.

If you are in the middle of a point when the whistle blows, continue to play out the point. The team with the higher point score will call a game win. If it is a tie, neither team will get a point.

Every round will be random pairings for each doubles team. At the end of a round, players will change partners and move courts according to the schedule. Refer to the schedule to find out which court and which player you are assigned to for each round.

Scoring

You will score each round like a USTA match.

0 = Love

1 = 15

2 = 30

3 = 40

4 = Game (No-Ad scoring)

When you win a Game Point, you win a point for both members of your team.

Play the point out when the whistle blows. The team with the higher point score will call a game win if you are in the middle of a game point.

No-Ad Scoring

When teams reach 40-40 or “deuce” point, the receiving team will decide to receive the serve from the deuce (right half) or ad (left half) of the court. Whichever team wins the deuce point serve, will win that game.

Final Round & Tourney Winner

The 4 finalists will be the players with the most games won after the last round is completed. In case of a tie, a tie breaker game will determine the top available spots. (ie, Ro-Sham-Bo, arm wrestling, dance-off, einie-meanie, etc.) An exhibition match will follow the 5th round and be a 10 point tie break match.
