What to Expect at House of Iwa

Whether you're joining us for a Head Spa, Dry Head Spa, or Sensory Wellness Ritual, your experience begins with a moment to slow down.

Each service is intentionally designed to provide a peaceful, personalized experience. Before your treatment begins, we'll take a few moments to learn about your preferences, comfort level, and any areas you'd like us to focus on or avoid.

Head Spa

A Head Spa is a water-based scalp and wellness ritual that combines professional scalp care with deeply relaxing massage.

During your experience:

1. Welcome & Consultation

We'll review your intake form, discuss your scalp and hair concerns, and learn about your preferences for pressure, temperature, fragrance, and relaxation.

2. Scalp Assessment

We'll take a closer look at your scalp to help determine which treatments and products are most appropriate for your individual needs.

3. Scalp & Hair Ritual

Your customized service may include cleansing, scalp exfoliation, conditioning, steam, therapeutic massage, and targeted scalp treatments.

4. Massage & Relaxation

Throughout your treatment, you'll experience intentional massage techniques designed to promote relaxation and release tension.

5. Finishing Ritual

Your treatment concludes with customized leave-in products and finishing care. We'll also provide recommendations for maintaining your scalp and hair between visits.

What to expect:

Your hair will become wet during this service and will be cleansed and conditioned. Your hair will be towel-dried and before heading out, you're invited to enjoy our complimentary self-serve styling stations, where you'll find professional styling tools and light products to refresh your hair at your own pace.

Dry Head Spa

A Dry Head Spa is a waterless head and scalp wellness experience. Unlike a traditional Head Spa, your hair remains dry.

This treatment focuses primarily on relaxation, tension release, and intentional touch.

During your experience:

1. Welcome & Consultation

We'll discuss your preferences, including massage pressure, areas of tension, temperature, and any areas you'd like us to avoid.

2. Grounding Ritual

You'll settle comfortably into your treatment space while we create a calming environment with optional aromatherapy and intentional breathing.

3. Dry Scalp & Head Massage

Your service provider will use a combination of scalp massage, pressure-point techniques, gentle stretching, and rhythmic movements.

4. Face, Neck & Shoulder Relaxation

Depending on your selected service, your experience may include temple, forehead, facial, neck, shoulder, arm and hand massage.

5. Closing Ritual

Your treatment concludes with slow finishing touches designed to gradually bring you back into the room.

What to expect:

Your hair remains dry, so you can easily continue with your day.

Sensory Spa

Sensory Wellness at House of Iwa is a different kind of relaxation experience.

Rather than focusing on scalp health or traditional massage, sensory rituals use gentle, intentional touch and repetitive sensory techniques to create a deeply calming experience.

Your service may include:

  1. Hair play
  2. Gentle scalp touch
  3. Light scalp scratching
  4. Soft brushing
  5. Hair combing
  6. Gentle facial or forehead touch
  7. Back tracing or light scratching
  8. Hand and arm touch
  9. Slow, rhythmic movements

During your experience:

1. Sensory Consultation

We'll talk through the types of touch and sensations you enjoy and establish clear boundaries before your service begins.

2. Personalization

You can choose the areas, sensations, pressure, and techniques that feel most comfortable to you.

3. Your Sensory Ritual

You'll settle in while your service provider moves through a slow, intentional sequence of your selected sensory experiences.

4. Complete Control

You remain in control throughout your appointment. You may ask us to change the technique, pressure, area, or sensation or pause or stop the service at any time.

What to expect:

Sensory Wellness services are strictly professional, non-sexual, and wellness-focused. The experience is designed to provide a safe, comfortable environment where you can simply relax and enjoy calming sensory stimulation.

Your Comfort Comes First

At House of Iwa, there is no "right" way to relax.

Some guests prefer silence. Others enjoy conversation. Some love firm massage while others prefer the lightest touch. You may want warmth, coolness, quiet, aromatherapy, or no fragrance at all.

We invite you to communicate your preferences before and throughout your service.

You are always welcome to say:

"A little lighter."

"A little deeper."

"That's perfect."

"Can we change that?"

"I'd like to pause."

Your comfort, consent, and boundaries are respected throughout your experience.
