AFTER-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Caring for Your Skin After Sugaring

Your skin may be temporarily sensitive after sugaring. Proper after-care can help minimize irritation and support healthy-looking skin.

First 24 Hours

For approximately the first 24 hours, avoid:

  1. Hot baths
  2. Very hot showers
  3. Sauna
  4. Steam rooms
  5. Hot tubs
  6. Swimming
  7. Intense workouts
  8. Excessive sweating
  9. Tanning
  10. Excessive sun exposure
  11. Tight clothing
  12. Unnecessary touching, rubbing, or scratching of the treated area

For Brazilian or bikini services, wear loose, breathable clothing whenever possible.

2. Skin Products After Sugaring

Immediately after treatment, avoid products that may irritate freshly sugared skin.

Avoid:

  1. Perfume
  2. Fragranced products
  3. Alcohol-based products
  4. Strong acids
  5. AHA
  6. BHA
  7. Retinol
  8. Retinoids
  9. Strong exfoliating products
  10. Harsh skincare products

Use gentle, fragrance-free products whenever appropriate.

3. Exfoliation After Sugaring

Once your skin has settled and there is no significant irritation, gentle exfoliation may generally be introduced around 48 hours after treatment.

Do not aggressively scrub the skin.

Gentle and consistent exfoliation may help reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs.

4. Preventing Ingrown Hairs

To help reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs:

  1. Keep the skin clean.
  2. Wear breathable clothing.
  3. Avoid excessive friction.
  4. Begin gentle exfoliation when the skin is ready.
  5. Do not pick, squeeze, or scratch bumps.
  6. Do not attempt to dig out ingrown hairs with your fingernails.

If an ingrown hair persists, becomes painful, or appears infected, consult an appropriate healthcare professional.

5. Normal Temporary Skin Reactions

Some temporary reactions may occur after sugaring, including:

  1. Mild redness
  2. Small follicular bumps
  3. Temporary sensitivity
  4. Mild warmth
  5. Mild itching
  6. Mild skin tightness

These reactions may occur temporarily after hair removal and should generally improve as the skin settles.

6. When to Seek Medical Attention

Contact a healthcare professional if you experience:

  1. Severe or worsening pain
  2. Significant swelling
  3. Pus or drainage
  4. Spreading redness
  5. Blistering
  6. Severe allergic reaction
  7. Fever
  8. Significant or unusual skin changes

If you experience a medical emergency, seek appropriate emergency medical care.
