CO2 laser treatments refer to medical procedures that utilize a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser to treat various dermatological conditions. The CO2 laser is a type of ablative laser that emits short pulses of high-energy light at a specific wavelength of 10,600 nanometers. Dr. Ciochetti owns and operates a Tetra Deka CO2 laser in her practice, and offers fractionally ablative or the lighter, CoolPeel treatment.

During a CO2 laser treatment, the laser beam is focused on the targeted area of the skin. The high-energy light is absorbed by the water molecules in the skin cells, causing them to heat up and vaporize. This process removes the top layers of damaged or unwanted skin, allowing healthier skin cells to grow in their place.

CO2 laser treatments can address a range of skin concerns, including:

Wrinkles & Fine Lines

The laser can stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Scars

CO2 lasers can effectively diminish the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and other types of scars by removing the damaged skin layers and promoting skin regeneration.

Uneven Skintone & Texture

The laser can target and remove areas of hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and uneven skin texture, resulting in a more even and smoother complexion.

Skin Tightening

The heat generated by the laser stimulates collagen production, leading to improved skin elasticity and firmness.

Skin Rejuvenation

CO2 laser treatments can improve overall skin tone and texture, giving the skin a more youthful and radiant appearance.

CO2 laser treatments are performed by Dr. Ciocchetti on our office. The procedure typically requires the application of a topical anesthetic cream to minimize discomfort. The duration of the treatment is usually around two hours. After the procedure, the treated area may appear red and swollen, similar to a sunburn. It is essential to follow post-treatment care instructions provided by the healthcare professional, which may include applying ointments, avoiding direct sunlight, and using sunscreen.

CO2 laser treatments are considered to be effective but may require multiple sessions for optimal results. They also involve some downtime for the skin to heal, with recovery periods ranging from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the intensity of the treatment.

Dr. Ciocchetti is happy to meet with you for a complimentary consultation to see if a CO2 laser treatment makes sense to address your aesthetic concerns.
