CURLY CUT FAQ

Do you work with all curl types?

Yes! waves, curls, coils -

all textures are welcome here.

when i say you’re welcome, i mean it.

Will my hair be washed?

Yes - most curly cuts include a wash, reset, and style so you leave seeing your curls at their best.

(express cuts do not include a wash)

Do I need to come in with my hair styled?

Come in with your hair down, detangled, and styled how you normally wear it.

skip buns, braids, or slick backs — i want to see your natural curl pattern so i can shape it best for you.

What is a dry curly cut?

A dry curly cut means your hair is cut in its natural, dry state so i can see how your curls actually live and move.

this lets me shape things more intentionally so it falls right... not just when you leave, but at home too.

CURLY WASH GUIDE

In the Shower –

Where Curl Care Begins

1. Shampoo First (Yes, Even Curly Hair Needs It!)

  1. Make sure to clarify at least every other week to keep your scalp clean and refreshed.
  2. When using shampoo (especially a clarifying one), let it sit for 2 minutes—this gives the cleansing agents time to work.
  3. No suds = not clean yet. That means the shampoo is still grabbing onto buildup, so go in for a second round if needed!

2. Condition Like You Mean It

  1. Apply conditioner from scalp to ends—don’t be afraid of weighing your hair down. It actually helps balance your scalp’s pH, keeping oiliness and flakiness in check.
  2. Now’s the perfect time to detangle. The conditioner gives you the slip you need to brush through tangles gently.

Style With Intention

(And Water!)

1. Water is Your Best Friend

  1. Don’t let your hair dry out before styling! Keep it wet or damp when applying products to lock in hydration.

2. Apply Products Like a Pro

  1. Focus on the ends first, then work your way up to the roots—this prevents product buildup on your scalp.
  2. Use a brush or comb to help distribute product evenly for best results.

3. Scrunch, Don’t Shake!

  1. Scrunching isn’t rough or aggressive—it’s more like gently squeezing the curls upward in your hands to help them form.
  2. First, scrunch with your hands to disperse water and product.
  3. Then, scrunch with a soft, fine-knit T-shirt (instead of a towel) to help reduce frizz and breakage.

The Drying Game

  1. Try not to touch your hair while it's drying—less touching = less frizz.
  2. Pro tip: If your hair feels cool to the touch, it’s still wet inside the curl.
  3. Once it’s fully dry, scrunch out the crunch to break up the cast and reveal those juicy, defined curls.

    If You're Diffusing:

  1. Use the diffuser to gently cup the curls and hold them in place—avoid moving it all around your head.
  2. Let the curls dry in their natural shape with as little disruption as possible.
  3. Diffuse on low or medium heat to avoid frizz and heat damage, and always take breaks to check for dryness before over-drying.
