Not every hair will be removed during your first 3–5 waxes, and that’s completely normal due to hair growth cycles. With consistent waxing every 4–6 weeks, I am able to target more hairs as they naturally enter the active growth phase. Over time, waxing leads to smoother results, finer regrowth, and longer-lasting hair reduction.
1. Hair Length Matters
Hair should be about ¼ to ½ inch long.
Too short and the wax won’t grab properly; too long and it can increase pain and irritation.
2. Gentle/Mild Exfoliation
Purchase an exfoliating glove/mitt. Scrub the area 1 day before waxing and 3-5 times a week after waxing.
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, preventing ingrown hairs and helping the wax grab smoothly.
3. Skip Caffeine & Alcohol
Avoid these before your appointment.
They make your skin more sensitive and can make the waxing process feel more uncomfortable.
4. Pain Relief
You can take pain medication like Tylenol 30–60 minutes before to help reduce the pain.
Reducing discomfort helps you relax and makes the waxing experience easier and less stressful. Steam treatments help a lot!
5. Hydrate!
Drink plenty of water.
Well-hydrated skin is softer, more elastic, and less prone to irritation or redness.
6. Avoid Heavy Aftercare
If it smells like a flower, a vacation, or a dessert, DO NOT put it on freshly waxed skin. This includes scented soaps. Instead, try Cold-Pressed Jojoba oil.
Using the wrong aftercare can irritate your skin, clog your pores, and cause ingrown hairs.
7. DO NOT TOUCH!
Your hands are dirty! Overtouching leads to bacteria entering your freshly waxed, open follicles. This will create tiny pimple-like bumps.
Touching the area transfers bacteria straight into those open pores.
