After your wax

The first week after a wax is when your hair follicles are open, and your skin is most vulnerable, so what you do during this time directly determines whether you get smooth regrowth or ingrowns and irritation. Proper aftercare keeps pores clear, calms inflammation, and helps the hair grow back correctly in its cycle instead of trapping under.

Avoid for 24–72 hours:

  1. Saunas
  2. Swimming
  3. Sex
  4. Working out (24h)
  5. Tanning beds
  6. Direct Sunlight
  7. Chemical exfoliants

Gently Exfoliate

  1. Wait 24–48 hours after waxing before exfoliating.
  2. 3–5 times per week using light pressure.
  3. Use a soft exfoliating glove, net, or mitt.
  4. Purpose: removes dead skin cells, keeps skin healthy, and prevents ingrown hairs.

Can't physically exfoliate, try Chemical Exfoliants:

  1. Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA: lactic acid, glycolic acid). Not ideal immediately after waxing! Depends on your skin type but helps brighten skin, and smooths surface texture.

  1. Beta hydroxy acids (BHA: salicylic acid). Best for people who workout daily. Also best for coarse hair + stubborn bikini line bumps.

  1. *Polyhydroxy acids (PHA: gluconolactone). Best for very gentle exfoliation and hydrates while exfoliating sensitive bikini areas.

Watch your skin

  1. Most reactions subside within 24–72 hours with proper aftercare.

  1. If irritation, swelling, or signs of infection persist, contact The Epilation Lab or a healthcare professional.
