What is Sugaring?

Your Complete Guide

Book your Sugar Wax Here

Sugar waxing, also known as sugaring, is a gentle and all-natural hair removal technique that dates back to ancient Egypt. The sugar paste is made from just three ingredients: sugar, lemon juice, and water making it a clean, chemical-free option for smooth skin. Unlike traditional waxing, sugar wax is applied against the direction of hair growth and removed in the natural direction, which can result in less breakage, reduced irritation, and fewer ingrown hairs.

At Mayari Wellness, we use Radeq Lab Sugar Paste a premium, skin conscious alternative to traditional sugar wax formulas. Unlike many sugar pastes that contain lemon juice or citric acid, Radeq Lab’s Classic line is made only with water, fructose, and glucose, making it especially suitable for sensitive skin types. The absence of lemon reduces the risk of irritation and helps maintain a more balanced pH, which is crucial for preserving the integrity of the skin’s barrier particularly in delicate areas like the bikini line and underarms.

For an even more advanced approach, we also incorporate Radeq Lab’s Prebiotic Sugar Paste, which features their innovative Inuflex® Technology. This blend includes natural prebiotics like inulin and gluconolactone, designed to nourish the skin’s microbiome, reduce inflammation, and support faster healing post-wax. This formula is ideal for first-time clients, those with ultra-sensitive skin, or anyone seeking a more mindful and restorative hair removal experience. At Mayari Wellness, we believe in providing not only effective results but also gentle, holistic care every step of the way.

What to expect:

  1. We’ll begin with a quick consultation and review your intake form.
  2. I’ll then step out behind the curtain for your privacy.
  3. You’ll use the provided wipes to clean the front, middle, and back of the sugaring area.
  4. Cover yourself with the small towel and let me know when you’re ready.
  5. I’ll step back in and we’ll begin your appointment.
  6. Brazilian Sugar Wax appointments at Mayari Wellness typically take 45–50 minutes. This includes time for consultation, dress down, cleansing, the service, and dressing afterward.
  7. New clients must book the “New Client Brazilian Wax” unless a promotion specifies otherwise.
  8. All hair removal services can involve some level of discomfort, especially for first-time clients or those with a lower pain tolerance. If
  9. If a client is unable to complete the full Brazilian during the appointment, I will always do my best to clean up and shape the area to the best of my ability with the time remaining. However, full payment is still required, as time, materials, and a full service slot have been reserved exclusively for you.

How To Prepare for your Sugar Wax Appointment

Preparing properly can help ensure the best results and most comfortable experience. Heres what to do before your appointment

Let your hair grow just a bit!

  1. Hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice)—usually around 10–14 days of growth.
  2. Avoid shaving before your appointment, as this will make the process less effective.
  3. Although there is no such thing as ‘too long’ trimming down to at least 1/4 inch long ( grain of rice ) will help reduce the pain and prevent sugar pooling on longer hairs.

Gently Exfoliate 24–48 Hours Before

  1. Use a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt to remove dead skin and help the sugar paste grip the hairs better.
  2. Avoid harsh exfoliants or chemical peels before your service.

Clean, Dry Skin

  1. Do not apply lotions, oils, or creams on the day of your appointment.
  2. Come with clean, dry skin to ensure proper adhesion of the sugar.

Avoid Heat and Caffeine

  1. Refrain from sunbathing, tanning, hot baths, or saunas for at least 24 hours prior.
  2. Avoid caffeine the day of your service—it can increase sensitivity.

Take an Over-the-Counter Pain Reliever (Optional)

If you’re sensitive to pain, taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen 30 minutes prior can help minimize discomfort.

After Care: What to do Post-Wax

Taking care of your skin after your wax is just as important as preparing beforehand. Follow these aftercare tips to reduce irritation and keep your skin smooth and healthy:
